Colonel Abigail Linnington is a Senior Military Fellow at the Institute for National Strategic Studies and visiting faculty at the College of International Security Affairs at National Defense University.
In her previous assignment, Colonel Linnington was a special assistant to the Chairman of the Joint chiefs of Staff and Director of the Chairman's Action Group. From 2014-2016, she was the senior plans advisor in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy for U.S. European Command and U.S. Special Operations Command plans. She was the lead speechwriter for the 38th Chief of Staff of the Army from 2012 to 2014.
In 2009, she assisted with the creation of an interagency task force to assist with the rule of law initiatives in Afghanistan and deployed as an advisor to the Commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force -435 (Rule of Law). She has also served as a joint strategist and military planner for U.S. Central Command, U.S. Training and Doctrine Command, and U.S. Joint Forces Command. As an aviation officer qualified in the UH-60 (Blackhawk) and OH-58 (Kiowa) helicopters, Colonel Linnington commanded units in the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 3rd Infantry Division, and Eighth U.S. Army (Republic of Korea).
