Is Senior Counsel of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. Mr. Calhoun serves as Founding Chairman of the Board at Give2Asia. He serves as a lecturer on international business transactions at the University of California School of Law, Berkeley, as an adjunct professor of banking law at the University of San Francisco School of Law, and as a visiting lecturer at the Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. Mr. Calhoun is a Commissioner of Asian Art Commission. He served as Chairman of the Asian Art Commission and Director of The Asia Foundation. He serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Japan Society of Northern California, the Chairman Emeritus of the San Francisco-Osaka Sister Committee, and a Director of the 1990 Institute.
He serves as a Director of numerous public, private, and nonprofit corporations, and is a member of several professional associations, including the American Society of International Law. He was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure by the Japanese government in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of mutual understanding between the United States and Japan, and received a similar decoration from the Republic of South Korea. Mr. Calhoun joined the Army of the United States where he became a Japanese language specialist.
He is licensed to practice law in California, New York, the District of Columbia, and Japan. Mr. Calhoun graduated from Phillips Academy Andover. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa and recalled to service in Washington D.C. He completed his law degree at George Washington University School of Law.
