Is a senior adviser with CSIS Energy and National Security Program. As the former Chairman and founder of PFC Energy (from 1984 to 2013), he advised the chief executives of leading energy companies on corporate strategy, portfolio management, acquisitions, divestitures, and investor relations. Between 1977 and 1980, he was a First Vice President of Blyth, Eastman, Dillon & Co., Inc., an investment banking firm. Robin served in the Reagan Administration as Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Budget, and Administration, with responsibility for U.S. offshore oil policy, and in the Ford Administration as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Economic Affairs. In 1976, he received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Civilian Service.

Robin has also served as a trustee of several non-profit organizations. Currently, he is Co-Chairman of the German Marshall Fund of the United States and is a member of the Board of the Center for the National Interest. He is also a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Council on Foreign Relations, and is the President of the Wyeth Foundation for American Art.
