Mathematiker, Topologist, Professor at Princeton University and one of the first members of the Institute for Advanced Study. In 1933 he was one of the first members of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, where he was professor until 1947. In 1951 he became emeritus professor. Since he was a millionaire after an heir, he waived payment at the Institute.
