Immediately after graduation, Mr. Adams took up newspaper work, and for a year was on the staff of the New York Evening Post In 1867, he accepted a position on the Hartford (Conn.) C our ant, after which he was for a year on the staff of the Troy (N. Y.) Times, and for six on the Springfield Republican. From 1876 to 1881, he was again located in New York City, as a member of the reportorial staff of the Sun, but in 1881, he returned to Hartford as an editorial writer for the Courant Although he retired from that position in March, 1914, on account of poor health, he had continued to make occasional editorial contributions to the Courant until a few weeks before his death.
