Is a contributing editor at Xconomy and freelance writer covering the environment, energy, science, technology and medicine. He has written about the impacts of climate change and the potential for rapid climate change for Scientific American and the role of natural gas in cutting emissions for Conservation, among many other stories. Until 2010, he was senior correspondent in Business Week's Washington Bureau.

In his 21 years at the magazine, he wrote stories on everything from global warming and sequencing the human genome to tobacco regulation, election technology, cholesterol-lowering drugs and renewable energy.

His stories have won awards from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Wistar Institute, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the Deadline Club, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the Oversees Press Club, and others. He was also a National Magazine Award finalist.
