In 2003, he retired as Managing Director of Lehman Brothers, an investment banking firm, following a 31-year career with the firm. He has served on the Board of Trustees of New York Presbyterian Hospital since 1996. Mr. Martinez received his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Martinez has over ten years of experience as a private investor and serves on the Investment Committees of several non-profit organizations.
He previously served on the Investment Advisory Council of the State of Florida, which provides independent oversight of the Florida Retirement System funds and other state funds, which aggregated in excess of $150 billion. He has extensive experience in investment banking through his 31-year tenure with Lehman Brothers where he was involved in a broad spectrum of U.S. and international investment banking activities covering financing, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring advisory assignments as well as financing transactions for governments and corporations.
Through his over 20 years serving on the Board of Trustees of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Mr. Martinez developed insights into the issues facing health care systems in a rapidly changing environment, including the provision of care management and delivery systems.
