With the end of National Socialism, Sohl was arrested on December 1, 1945, based on the Central Registry of War Crimes and Security Suspects (CROWCASS), first taken to an interim storage facility in Iserlohn and interned at the Bad Nenndorf interrogation center from December 4, 1945. About half a year later Sohl was transferred to the former main camp VI A, the Civilian Internment Camp No. 7, now run by the British Rhine Army and known as Camp Roosevelt. The last stop was the - formerly main camp VI K (326) - Eselheide internment camp near Paderborn, from which he was released on May 17, 1947.

At the turn of the year 1947/48, Sohl and Hermann Wenzel were again brought into the board of the Vereinigte Stahlwerke, responsible for the unbundling (company structure) and dismantling (reparation) of the Vereinigte Stahlwerke, and participated in the reorganization of the German heavy industry. In 1953 he became Chairman of the Executive Board of Thyssen AG (one of the successor companies of Vereinigte Stahlwerke). (Translate)
