Is Executive Vice President and President, Global Health and Development at BD (Becton, Dickinson & Co), a global medical technology company with over 40,000 employees and $12 billion in revenues worldwide. He joined BD in 1983 and has served as an executive officer since 1996.
In addition to serving as board co-chair of GBCHealth, he is a board director of the Perrigo Company, CDC Foundation, UNICEF USA, the Federal Drug Agents Foundation and the End Violence Partnership. He is board chair and founder of Together for Girls, a partnership of five UN agencies, the governments of the United States and Canada and other partners to end violence against children, particularly sexual violence against girls.
He also serves as chair of the CDC/Corporate Roundtable on Global Health Threats and as an advisor on the Scientific Advisory Board of Grand Challenges Canada. He previously served as a Commissioner on the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children and is a member of the UN Secretary General’s Network of Engaged Men Leaders.
